Katahdin lambing season is on!

Posted by Lanna Calhoun on

Here at Calhoun Farmstead we raise many breeds of animals.  The sheep here on the farm are Katahdin Hair Sheep.  These sheep are raised as a meat breed.

The Katahdin breed of sheep is very hardy.  Can tolerate very cold temperatures.  Have easy pregnancies, and deliveries.  And are awesome mamas.

These sheep get wooly in the winter to protect them against the cold weather, but then shed their wool in the summer.  Katahdin sheep can come in a variety of colors and spots.  They have a great temperament, and make great additions to our farm.
